It’s no secret that I am a big fan of the Island of Jamaica. When Candice & Ryan asked me to capture their wedding at the Riu Montego Bay, I was over the moon excited. This meant that I got to head back to the island. Although I did not stay at the Riu, I had my dear friend and second photographer Tisha, from Tisha Johnson Photography, stay there for the week. I flew down to Jamaica a couple days before their wedding day that took place on June 5, 2017. The weather forecast for the week looked absolutely perfect. Sunny skies with no chance of rain. When the wedding day arrived, it was hot! Not a cloud in the sky or a breeze to be felt. Although we all almost melted, it was a perfect day for a wedding.
Once I arrived at the Riu Montego Bay, Tisha gave me a quick tour around the resort. There was so many great spots for photos. I was very excited to get my day started. First I met with the bride and bridesmaids in Candice’s oceanview suite. This room was just perfect for the girls to get ready. Not to mention the AC worked amazingly. When we got to the room, the girls were still in progress of getting their hair and makeup done by Chasity Artistry. She is an amazing local hair and makeup company. I highly recommend her to any other destination brides. All the girls looked flawless. I think my favourite part with the ladies was when Candice did a reveal with her Dad. It was such a precious moment. One I am sure they will both never forget.
While the ladies continued to get ready, I took a quick run over to the groom and groomsman. Like always, the guys never disappoint. Full of laughs and jokes, we had a great time getting them ready. The struggle is always real when it comes to pinning the boutonnieres. Nine times out of ten I am the one who ends up pinning them on. With their sweat rags in their pockets, sunglassed on and suspenders up, we headed out to grab some formal photos before the ceremony. Before we knew it, it was ceremony time. Candice was a stunning bride. Her gown fit her perfectly. As her dad walked her down the aisle to Ryan his face said it all. He was so happy to see his bride to be. While the ceremony was short and sweet, the couple exchanged rings, vows and a kiss. They signed the registry and happily made their way down the aisle as husband and wife.
While this day flew by, there were many special moments that I will always remember from their wedding day. The reveal with dad, the Bride Barbie that Dad gifted Candice, their first dance on the rooftop terrace under the lanterns, the smiles on their faces and the laughter that filled their reception space. This was a true celebration from beginning to end. Candice and Ryan, I am so happy to have met you. We may have started with a client based relationship but I am so happy to have turned that into a friendship. May there be many more fun times in our future. Thank you so much for having Tisha and I be included in your wedding day.
