A Family Photo Shoot With a Friend

October 16, 2020

Shooting this family photo shoot at Huron Natural Area in Kitchener was extra special for me. Brittany is sisters with my best friend and I’ve known her for a long time! Naturally, when you have a personal connection with a photographer, I’ve ended up photographing her and their family for a few years now. I don’t mind, though, because we always have a great time together.

Brittany, her husband Fil and their two daughters, London and Sophia are as just as sweet at they seem in the photos. It’s been really awesome to capture their special bond in these photos.

As much as I try to make all my clients feel at ease, it is sometimes easier than others. That’s the bonus of shooting something that you already know – that connection helps them to relax in front of the camera. This is especially true with children since they can feel awkward in front of the camper.

If you’ve peeked though my other sessions with families, you’ll know that I love giving both parents time with each child. I also think it’s important to highlight both the children individually as well as the parents together.

As a parent myself, I know how hard it is to get photos with your kids or with your partner. Normally, it’s all about the kids.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. The whole point of a family photo shoot such as this one is to get the whole family together. It’s not just the kids, as much as parents naturally believe that.

That being said, all parents want to put their children in the spot light for family photo shoots. For this family photoshoot at Huron Natural Area I couldn’t help but agree. The setting was just too perfect to pass up a little mini photo shoot for these two angels.

I like to close off the session with families with some good old family portraits. Shooting in a natural place like Huron Natural Area for family photoshoots gives me the opportunity to get creative with the shots. Personally, I think the outcome is worth it.

I couldn’t be happier with this day and how these photos turned out. Whether it’s my connection to Brittany or the special bond between this family, they’re simply beautiful.
