The Grand Palladium Jamaica was well worth the 2,800 KM’s travelled to be with Jess, Matt and their family and friends on the beautiful island of Jamaica. Let me start off by saying that we LOVE Jamaica and the resort was amazing to say the least, not to mention the 30+ degree weather was perfection. I had been waiting for this wedding since the day they booked and knew after our engagement session that these two would totally rock our photo session time on their wedding day. The chemistry these two share is insane.
On April 19, 2016, we woke up with the sun shining, the wind blowing and excitement was in the air. We first met the ladies at the Zentropia Spa where they would get their hair and makeup done in the wonderful AC.
What can I say about guy prep? It’s always a good laugh, always organized chaos and simply entertaining to watch. There is the constant struggle of someone not knowing how to fold the pocket square or unable to tie their own tie. I’d like to say for the most part that Matt and his guys had their ducks in a row! 1 was folding all the pocket squares with military precision while the other helped tie ties. Thankfully no one ever has issues with their own socks! Upon arrival in the room I noticed that there were not 1, not 2 but 3 letters with lots of scribbles that all started out written to Jess (the bride). These were several attempts by Matt to put down on paper his deepest thoughts and feelings on their relationship, Jess as a woman and their wedding day. It was clear that it was not as easy as it would seem. How do you put so much love into a handful of sentences. When it came time for Matt’s speech later that evening, he spoke the truest of words straight from the heart.
When couples exchange gifts I always love to see what they think each other will love. Sometimes they are silly gifts and sometimes they are super sentimental, but this gift that Jess got Matt was so right for him. It was sleek and refined and it matched Matt’s style to a tee! Great job Jess, he loved it!
I was so excited to see what style of wedding gown Jess had chosen, so when we headed back to our room to get ready there is was hanging in the window and it was stunning! Just the right amount of beading, lace and train. The colour palette they chose was beautiful corals and blues and it totally tied into the destination wedding vibe. Thankfully Jess’ room came with a sewing kit as her sister ended up having to sew her right into her dress hoop, hope Matt was able to get her out of that without too many troubles at the end of the night!
Can I just say for a minute how much I love when couples do an intimate first look reveal. This is one of my absolute favourite parts of a wedding day. The anticipation on the grooms face as he hears the sound of her heels on the sidewalk get closer and closer. The little tap on the shoulder and BAM the smiles, laughter and tears. In this moment nothing else matters and everything is just as it should be.
Ok for real these fellas has swag for days! These blue suits were amazing and totally perfect for the wedding. You would think I was working with some models straight out of GQ Magazine! Matt sure did a great job picking some awesome groomsman to stand up with him and it was very endearing to see the relationships that they all possessed individually.
Let’s not forget about these stunning dolls! Jess’ bridal party consisted of 2 sisters and 2 best friends and it was clear on how much Jess values her relationships with each of them. These ladies have been through thick and thin together and they were there 100% of the way for Jess and Matt on their wedding day. I really love how they each chose their own style of dress, I think it really tied the wedding party look together as a whole.
A big thank you to the Grand Palladium Jamaica for hosting a beautiful wedding in the most beautiful location with the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen. Until next time….
