There was something extra special about this downtown wedding at the Walper Hotel with Jeff and Tin. The day began with the guys and their wedding party getting ready in one of the suites overlooking the downtown setting. Everything was very casual and laid-back when we arrived. They were working on getting all the flowers pinned to the jackets before we took off for photos outside. Downtown weddings are always so great as they usually have many photo locations available within walking distance, and the Walper Hotel is no exception. There is a laneway right beside this historic hotel that is filled with graffiti art and lots of urban architecture.
We spent some time wandering the alleyways before walking over to Victoria Park for some more photos of the wedding party, the couple and their families. This park has so much charm and the clock tower is always a must when visiting. They recently added in a little water feature too and a pond, which adds a nice touch for the backdrop of the photos.
I will say, I think my favourite thing about the photos was the colourful umbrellas the guys got from Amazon. They of course got the colours of the rainbow to celebrate and embrace the love of pride, but it was also calling for rain all day. But the best part is that they also got rainbow socks and they matched the umbrellas perfectly. A match made in Pride Heaven.
Once we were finished with the downtown wedding photos, we made our way back to the Walper Hotel where all of their guests had started to take their seats for the ceremony. It was an emotional one. Jeff could not contain his tears and Tin was full of giggles as the two shared their vows and exchanged their wedding rings. The ceremony only lasted about 10 minutes before we made our way to cocktail hour. This is where the party began, and to be honest, I don’t think it ended from that point onward.
The couple was embraced with lovely toasts throughout dinner and shared in a lovely first dance before changing into their traditional Asian attire and cutting the cake. From there, we did not stick around much longer, but if I had to guess, the party went well into the early morning hours as many of their guests were staying at the hotel.
