Engagement Session Outfits

So you’ve set a date, time and location for your engagement session and now it’s time to plan what outfit you will wear. No fret! Here are some great styling tips to plan your engagement session outfits and get images that stand out!

Neutral Tones

Sometimes it is okay to play it safe and stick to neutral tones because it is almost a guarantee that your engagement session outfits will work with whichever type of background you choose for your location. I also like to encourage neutrals as I find it allows for different tones and textures to also be utilized that blend well together. I will also like to add that neutrals work for every skin tone and can maintain an even look for everyone.

Accessorize your outfits with ease

If you are a couple that does not want to plan multiple outfits, that is okay. There are a few ways that you can add dimension to your engagement session outfits simply by wearing dynamic accessories. Here is the list that I offer to clients to wear:

• Jackets
• Hats
• Start with a skirt and bring pants that you can do a quick change
• Scarves
• Sweaters to wear over another shirt so you can wear both

This will allow for a variety of images back in your gallery without having to carry around lots of items from location to location.

Match but not too matchy matchy

Your engagement session outfits should be complementary in textures and tones without being too overly matchy-matchy with patterns or apparel. I would strongly discourage both showing up in matching shirts and pants, but rather opt for a colour palette and choose items within that colour range. This will allow you to each show your own style and vibe while creating a cohesive look.

The moral of the story, keep it simple and try to not overthink it. Neutral tones are fantastic! Layer up and accessorize and keep the matchy-matchy to a minimum and you are sure to walk away with amazing engagement session images.
