How does an intimate backyard elopement sound? If there is one thing I know that reigns true, it’s that bigger weddings do not mean they are better. This emotional intimate backyard elopement in Toronto with Sarah and Alex was so elegantly designed by Sarah and her Mom.
I will never forget the magic that sparked my heart when I walked out into the backyard of their home and saw the most stunning setup for their reception. Soft blues, pinks and greens filled the tables with family heirloom tableware. I think the thing I adored the most was that the chalices that were used, were also used at their parent’s wedding. What a special touch to add to their special elopement.
Now, one thing you should know about these two, is that they absolutely love Disney! It is actually where they planned to do another bigger wedding celebration with their immediate family and friends. But, more to come on that at a later date. For their backyard elopement, they created a Star Wars fabric backdrop that featured their favourite droid, R2-D2.
Sarah and Alex really did their best job at incorporating all their most special people into their intimate elopement, which was so sweet to witness. Her father walked her down the aisle, a close family friend officiated the ceremony, their mothers signed the marriage license, and to finish it off, their adorable pup got her own photo shoot.
When their ceremony was complete, the couple chose to honour Alex’s family heritage by making homemade pizzas in their tabletop stone oven pizza maker. The best part is that the couple had made all the dough by hand earlier with Alex’s grandma who flew in from Italy for their celebration. Although I did not get to enjoy the pizza, it did look and smell absolutely amazing.
One memorable moment for me was when Sarah handed me my very own tiny-sized cake to take home. The best part, it was a duplicate of their own wedding cake! How sweet of them to think of me in such a unique and special way.
