This destination wedding took us to the beautiful resort of the Jewel Runaway Bay in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. This is where I would meet in person for the very first time Megan and Keith. Megan and Keith flew down to Jamaica with their family and friend from Canada’s east coast, more specifically, Newfoundland. I first started speaking with Megan through social media when we discovered that I would be at the same resort for another wedding the same week. So, the night before their big day, we met at the lobby bar to go over final details, exchange room numbers and well, to say hello face to face. We hit if off right away and I knew that their wedding was going to be an amazing day.
Come the wedding day the weather at the Jewel Runaway Bay was perfect! Which was a welcomed change from the rain the island was experiencing days before. Our morning started off with the ladies in Megan’s stunning ocean view suite. Upon arrival the ladies were getting their hair and makeup done and there was so much excitement in the air. From there, we took a small stroll over to Keith and the guys, who were enjoying multiple cans of Red Stripe. It is always a nice change when I get to photograph the guys getting ready since at home weddings I am typically with the bride. The guys are always good for a laugh. Whether it be trying to figure out how to tie a tie, placing and pinning the boutonnieres or just their overall lack or knowledge on the plans for the wedding day lol. Needless to say, they all did a fantastic job at getting the groom to the alter in one piece and sober.
The couple chose to have their ceremony beachfront, which was the perfect backdrop. It may have been a little bit on the windy side, but it was much appreciated to keep us from feeling like we were all cooking in a toaster oven from the heat of the sun. They had an officiant that was so happy and into the ceremony. I think it was so refreshing to see. He also had them pose for multiple photo ops, which I was loving! Megan and Keith also chose to do a sand ceremony during their ceremony. I love when couples do this as its a great take home gift to yourselves from your wedding day. Post ceremony we had a blast doing wedding party and family formal photos, bar side of course. These Newfoundlanders sure love to drink, but is that really any surprise? lol. The lighting could not have any prettier for their photo session.
Originally, Megan and Keith were contemplating having their reception inside the ballroom at the resort. While spending time chatting this option over with Megan and giving my best advice I could, I am SO excited that they did decide to have the reception out in the garden space. Under the palm trees and string lights they shared in a wonderful wedding day meal and first dance. Lots of booze was flowing, guests were dancing and overall it was a wonderful day spent with great people. Thanks to the Jewel for being a great wedding host.
Cheers to the newlyweds! I look forward to when we get to see you both again, who knows, maybe next time we will have to hit up the east coast!
