Mill Race Park in downtown Galt, in Cambridge, has the most beautiful architecture and parks. Making the perfect backdrop for engagement sessions. It is even more beautiful during the summer months and is a very popular location for both wedding photos and engagement sessions. With its stone buildings and location right next to the Grand River, it’s no wonder photographers flock to this park with their clients.
Insert Becky and Jeff. This fun-loving couple chose Mill Race Park for their engagement session. They knew they wanted something outdoors and a little more urban than a park or trail. Since their wedding was taking place in Banff National Park, they wanted to tie in the theme. This was a happy combination of both worlds. We totally lucked out with crowd levels this summer night, as we had the place practically to ourselves.
When I say they are a fun-loving couple, I truly mean it. They showed up with their own Game Boys. Yes, those handheld gaming systems from the ’90s! These two love their video games, and I love that about them. Also, can we take a minute to appreciate Becky’s multi-coloured heart shirt? As soon as I saw it I had to compliment her on it and was sad to discover it was no longer available for purchase anywhere.
One thing I do really like about doing engagement sessions at Mill Race Park is how diverse it is in backdrops and the use of the architecture. From staircases and benches to riverbeds and gardens. Plus, having the stunning downtown buildings and bridges in the background offer great dimension to the images.
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time roaming the park while sharing many laughs and sharing stories. We talked about their upcoming wedding in Banff National Park later that summer. They shared that they have never been to the Canadian Rockies before and I was so excited to show them a place where I used to live.
