I left my heart in Scotland after this Scotland Wedding. I am so thankful to Sam and Alex for bringing me all the way from Canada to Scotland. Sam and Alex had their official wedding in Guelph at Creelman Hall in Guelph in May. There is a lovely blog post on that wedding which can be found here. My husband and I flew into Edinburgh, Scotland from London, England a couple days before the Scotland Blessing Ceremony. We decided to make the trip extra fun by renting a car from Edinburgh to drive up to the northern highland of Scotland. Boy was this an experience all on its own. I can not tell you in words just how beautiful this country is. It really is so dreamy.
After the 6 hour drive through the hills of Scotland, we arrived in the tiny village of Helmsdale. This would also be the location of their blessing ceremony. I literally felt like I stepped into the pages of a fairytale. This is definitely what dreams are made of. But on this day, the clouds came and went right at the perfect times. We had a beautiful sunset and not a drop of rain. I could not have planned it any better. So a big thank you to mother nature for playing her role. Although this day was filled with great love and warmth, there was one special person who was unable to be there in person. You see, Alex’s dad passed away however, he was with us in spirit. We made a point to stop and visit his cemetery site and his bench that overlooked the village. It was a special moment I will never forget.
Even though we did not get any photos with sheep or highland cows, I am so very happy with the images from their Scotland Blessing Wedding. I can not wait to come back to Scotland and spend so much more time exploring. Big hugs to Sam and Alex.
