The Bahia Principe Jamaica is a very popular wedding resort for couples who wish to have a destination wedding. And I can totally see why. The luxury aesthetic of this resort is breathtaking all on its own. But one thing I love about photographing weddings at the Bahia Principe Jamaica is its diverse photo locations. The lush greenery and the silky sand offers a stunning backdrop for photos. Amanda and Steven flew down from Ontario, Canada for their wedding day last month. This was my first time meeting them. However, it was as if we had been friends for forever. Once I arrived at the Bahia Principe Jamaica, I headed to the Bahia Spa where Amanda and the girls were getting ready. Hair and makeup had begun. The girls were relaxed and quiet. Which was surprising as the ladies are usually pretty excited and hyped up. But to be honest, it added to the calmness of the day. Amanda may have been a little bit nervous but she did not let it phase her.
Before we left for the ceremony, Amanda wanted to do a first look with her dad. While all the girls prepared for the tears, Amanda stood waiting for her dad to enter. The anticipation filled the room. Tears were flowing from Amanda’s eyes before he entered the room. As soon as Dad entered it was as if someone turned the taps on. Everyone was crying, including myself. It was such a beautiful moment to capture. Even Dad had made the comment “Did you only bring me in here to cry?”. It was so emotional that even Dad could not open his gift at this time from his daughter.
It was time to head off to the ceremony. Amanda and Steven chose to have their ceremony at the Bahia Principe Jamaica’s beachfront gazebo. It was a perfect island day. Steven awaited his bride at the front of the aisle. While all eyes were on the Amanda and her Dad, I always have to take a peek at the groom. The first look at his bride always melts my heart. Their ceremony was short and sweet. They had written their own vows, which was super cute. I always feel like this adds some extra emotion to an already emotional wedding day. Rings were exchanged and the papers were signed. They were officially husband and wife.
We spent some time mingling with family and friends beachside listening to the steel drum band before taking off to do some portraits. We wandered the grounds before Amanda asked to go to the beach. I am so happy they decided to go because they chose to not do a day after session. The sunset was perfect for us this night.
Amanda and Steven, thank you so much for having Courtney and I capture your big day. We had the most amazing time getting to know you both and wish you had a great rest of your week in Jamaica.
